Taxpayers may pay their tax in a variety of ways:
- Use a credit/debit card (Visa/MasterCard).
- Make a bank draft via our online payment system.
- Use funds in the form of a personal check, money order or cashier’s check. Said funds must come from a US (domestic) bank and must be payable in US dollars.
Make the check or money order payable to NC Department of Revenue and mail payments to:

Raleigh, NC 27640-0002- Please include the taxpayer's name, social security number, type of tax, and applicable tax year/period with the payment.
- Pay in person at their local service center.
- Contact an agent at 1-877-252-3252.
If a taxpayer cannot pay their taxes by the due date, they should still file the return(s) on time. Any unpaid tax is subject to penalty and interest, which accrues daily; so, pay the balance in full as soon as possible. It is important to pay as much as possible with the return to reduce the penalty and interest.
