Objectives
The objectives of the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate are:
- Serve as a liaison between the Department and the taxpayer to bring resolution to problems that cannot be resolved through existing channels
- Provide assistance and resolution to specific taxpayer cases that have experienced a long standing or recurrent problem with the Department
- Advise executive management of identified areas in which taxpayers are experiencing difficulty voluntarily complying with DOR
- Preserve and promote the rights of the taxpayer
- Foster open and honest communications
