A Charlotte woman was arrested Thursday on felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Charisse Annette Ward, 43, of 5012 Shadyside Court, Charlotte, was charged on November
9, 2017 with two counts of Attempt to Evade or Defeat Tax.
Arrest warrants allege that Ward knowingly and willfully filed fraudulent 2014 and 2015 North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns by falsely creating or overstating her business expenses, all in an attempt to evade or defeat the North Carolina Individual Income Tax.
Ward appeared before a Wake County magistrate and was placed under a $6,000.00 secured bond. A first appearance was scheduled for November 13, 2017 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Ward resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
