The N.C. Department of Revenue has published a notice that outlines penalty waivers for taxpayers related to the coronavirus state of emergency. The waivers are for certain “late action penalties.”

The N.C. Department of Revenue has published the 2019 Tax Law Change book, which summarizes the recent legislative changes to the state's Revenue laws. The changes are detailed by taxing schedule and General Statute.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue will officially open the 2020 individual income tax filing season and begin accepting and processing individual income tax returns on Monday, Jan. 27. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will open federal tax filing season on the same day.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) officially opened the 2020 business income tax filing season and began accepting Corporate Income and Franchise, and Partnership tax returns Thursday, Jan. 16. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) began accepting business income returns Jan. 7.
